Markos has worked in print for many decades, most notably working behind the Iron Curtain before and after the fall of the Berlin Wall. His Newsweek reporting followed the revolutions of Eastern Europe from 1989-1991, before he moved to the USSR and started work as the NBC-Mutual News correspondent. He continues to work in print, both with his regular foreign policy column in the Sacramento Bee and for the McClatchy-Tribune news service.
